Gateway to Africa

Johannesburg is definitely South Africa's gateway to Africa - most airlines to South Africa fly directly into Johannesburg's Oliver Tambo International Airport. A few now fly from Europe or the Americas to Cape Town and the third major city, Durban, our east-coast port city is seeing increasing traffic. This was boosted with the completion of Durban's huge King Shaka Interntional Airport in time for the 2010 world cup soccer event hosted in South Africa, an event which catapulted South Africa into the world limelight.

South Africa in solidarity with the US marriage equality decision

Johannesburg's and South Africa's own Mr Gay South Africa 2015, Craig Maggs, has joined the countless Facebook members who have added the rainbow filter to their profiles in celebration of the USA Supreme Court decsion which will allow gay marriage in all 50 States of the US. Congratulations on an epic decision about #love #equality. Gay Marriage has been legal in South Africa since 2006 with the promulgation of the Civil Union Act which recognises gay marriages and gay civil unions.
